Find My Filler Metal

Use this tool to find common AWS filler metal classifications based on welding process and base metal combinations, including chromoly, weathering steel, stainless, aluminum, nickel, titanium, cast iron, hardfacing, brazing, oxy-fuel, and SAW starting points. TIG results include tungsten guidance, and MIG/TIG results include shielding gas starting points.

This tool provides practical starting-point recommendations only and should not replace WPS, code requirements, manufacturer specifications, or engineering approval.

Match Base Metal To Process

Select both base metals, or select a wear surface/build-up target for hardfacing. The result recommends an AWS classification or filler family, then adds setup starting points for TIG tungsten and MIG/TIG shielding gas where applicable.
