What to check first
Poor gas coverage
Inspect cup condition. Verify gas lens seating. Inspect O-rings and heat shield. Verify gas flow and shielding from drafts.
Torch overheating
Verify cooling flow on water-cooled torches. Inspect cable and hose condition. Verify amperage is within torch class. Inspect front-end consumable fitment.
Unstable arc
Inspect tungsten contamination. Verify collet tightness. Inspect gas lens or collet body. Verify gas coverage and work connection.
